One long track. Thousands of possibilities
North Queensland has its own unique charm. It's a
feeling in the air that makes it different to
anywhere else in Australia.
And whether you want to go hiking through
rainforests and connect with nature, climb
mountains, dive along the world's most magnificent
coral reef, swim and surf at secluded beaches, or
just enjoy a good 4WD adventure, there's one track
that's got it all. The Bloomfield track.
Start at Cairns, Australia's unofficial tropical
capital. Then follow the line of the Great Barrier
Reef north to Port Douglas, where luxury resorts are
flanked by the Coral Sea on one side, and tropical
rainforests on the other.
Then, drive past sugar cane fields to reach the
pleasant town of Mossman, before heading towards
Mossman Gorge, located at the southern end of the
awe-inspiring Daintree National Park.
Passing through the Daintree rainforests, you arrive
at Cape Tribulation, where you'll find secluded
beaches and camping sites - the perfect spot for a
quiet and private getaway.
Then it's on to Cooktown - the landing site of
intrepid explorer James Cook, and the gateway to the
vast mysterious wilderness of Cape York. |
